Automatically mastering complexity

WASSERMANN TECHNOLOGIE is expanding its expertise and capacity in the production of complex assemblies through automation. This supports and boosts the design and assembly expertise for assemblies with large volumes and many individual parts. Because the family-owned company not only relies on the best machines, but also covers the entire value chain of design, production, assembly, logistics and service itself, the assemblies can often do more than expected. This is what industries with the most demanding requirements rely on.

“When it comes to manufacturing complex assemblies, we continue to rely on a great deal of expertise and a high level of vertical integration in-house,” emphasizes Sebastian Krüger, Sales Engineer at WASSERMANN TECHNOLOGIE GmbH. “This gives us control over quality and deadlines and enables us to supply our customers with intelligent, high-quality solutions for their machines and systems that can be easily integrated on time,” adds his colleague Katharina Bibbig.

Automation increases performance in production and assembly

With a new robot for loading a lathe and the in-house workpiece and tool changing systems for a five-axis machining center from Grob, the family-run company is fully committed to automation. The automation specialists expect this to deliver even better performance when it comes to manufacturing expertise for assemblies with large volumes and many individual parts.

The robot supports the machining of turned parts, especially when the workpieces vary greatly. The five-axis universal machining center G350 from Grob is fully automated by connecting an automated tool changer and a pallet changer for unmanned production. The new tool terminal developed by WASSERMANN TECHNOLOGIE, the Tool-D model, can hold up to 1000 tools. It is characterized by a high density in a compact design with a small footprint. This is made possible by the nested drums. The pallet storage system also comes from our own company. As the Work-S, it offers space for 44 pallets measuring 400 x 400 mm, which are placed fully automatically in the machine’s work area. The Work series enables set-up to take place parallel to production.

The aim is a fully automated one-piece flow

Automation complements the high level of manufacturing and development expertise and results in ready-to-install assemblies or systems for customers. WASSERMANN TECHNOLOGIE has already demonstrated this expertise for leading international plant manufacturers in the solar and photovoltaic industry as well as for manufacturers of systems for display production or systems for the production of computer and iPhone chips. In medical technology, a highly complex assembly ensures that infusion bags are gripped, opened and filled safely. In addition to automation in production, assembly is also automated according to the one-piece flow principle. This optimizes in-house capacities. The next step will follow in October with the automation of a G150 from Grob.
