Training as a cutting mechanic

In the first few weeks, you will get to know the company and your new colleagues. The "getting to know you" day is a great event, a really fun day with all the trainees and the team of trainers. Activities include go-karting, driving mountain scooters, climbing, the jumping arena, and we always finish the day with a good meal. Your initial fears will disappear, and you'll get to know your fellow trainees.

Then your apprenticeship starts with a basic course in metal technology.
To get to know the company better, you'll move through various departments. After that, we got a basic course in machinery.

If you enjoy working on state-of-the-art, computer-controlled machines, as well as math, physics, and chemistry, and have good spatial visualization skills, training to become a cutting mechanic is the right choice for you.

You'll learn all about the properties and machinability of different materials.
You'll also learn how to read technical drawings and perform manual work such as filing, sawing, drilling, and much more.

Working with ultra-modern computer-controlled machines is an exciting and very challenging area that's also a lot of fun. Of course, it's important to be able to check the finished components correctly, and you'll learn how to use the appropriate measuring equipment for this.

To ensure your safety throughout the workday, you'll get a comprehensive overview of safety precautions that must be adhered to.

The project ends with mounting the tools.

After you've gone through the various basic courses and departments at the beginning, to get a feel for the company and the work you'll be doing in the future, you'll be involved in real work and projects – always under supervision – and you'll quickly become an important part of the company.

When your first exams approach, WASSERMANN will provide you with exam preparation courses, which take place outside the company. Over time you'll choose your specialization, which can be either turning or milling.
