However, large investments are still associated with economic risks. In addition, the machine tool market is currently struggling with very limited availability and unpredictable delivery times. For this reason, used machines are currently being traded at very high prices.   <\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>The approach of modernizing the existing machinery and adding a new machine including automation to increase capacity seems obvious and efficient. The advantages of an automated machine tool are obvious. Machine tools can be operated unmanned and set-up times are parallel to production time. It is clear that this increases productivity compared to manual set-up processes. However, this approach of combining new machining centers with manufacturer-specific automation solutions is not always the best option, especially for a company with sustainable growth.     <\/p>\n\n<p>The motivation behind the approach of buying the automation solution directly from the manufacturer when investing in a new machine tool is usually the supposed simplicity of the solution. This procedure also works without any problems for this one new machine tool, but these are all the advantages of this variant. <\/p>\n\n<p>As a rule, machining does not only consist of new machines. On the contrary, companies are often dependent on certain existing machines due to special equipment, customer approvals, existing programs or internal processes, which cannot simply be replaced by a new machine. Typically, these machines are also classic bottleneck machines that could easily have twice the capacity and still not be sufficient. However, the machine manufacturer is often unable to offer a suitable solution for these extremely important existing machines.   <\/p>\n\r\n\r\n<div id=\"block-65af8e9669049\"  class=\"headline_icon wassermann_block\">\r\n  <div class=\"noborder\">\r\n        <h2 class=\"custom_headline h2\" class=\"custom_headline h2\" id=\"it-doesnt-always-have-to-be-a-new-machine\" class=\"custom_headline h2\" class=\"custom_headline h2\" id=\"it-doesnt-always-have-to-be-a-new-machine\">\r\n              <span class=\"headline\">It doesn&#8217;t always have to be a new machine<\/span>\r\n                <\/h2>\r\n    <\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\n<p>More productivity can also be achieved without purchasing a new machine with integrated automation. The first step is to check whether the existing machine can be retrofitted with automation. This is often the most cost-effective way. There is great potential in the automation of existing machines, which Wassermann is happy to explore together with the customer.   <\/p>\n\n<p>Existing machines are usually still technically so good that they deliver first-class production quality. With automation for tools and\/or workpieces, productivity can be increased without reducing the quality of the production parts. The needs-based automation of existing machines frees up potential. It quickly leads to higher throughput, more spindle hours and better margins with the same personnel structure. This provides a number of advantages in terms of key performance indicators such as set-up times and machine running times.    <\/p>\n\n<p>For this reason, Wassermann offers automation solutions that can be retrofitted to many existing machines, regardless of the machine tool manufacturer. The advantages of retrofitting are therefore clearly on the commercial side. As the existing machines can continue to be used, there is no need to invest in a new machine tool until the end of the planned or unplanned service life.  <\/p>\n\n<p>What is much more important, however, is that more throughput, more turnover and therefore better margins can be achieved with the very machine that is the real bottleneck. In addition, the automation of existing machines is a response to the increasingly important trend of digitalization and can set the company apart from its competitors. For the sake of completeness, it should also be mentioned here that this approach is also sustainable and conserves resources by increasing the service life of existing machines.  <\/p>\n\n<p>These solutions are available for both workpiece and tool handling and are already in use at many renowned companies.<\/p>\n\r\n\r\n<div id=\"block-65af8e966908e\"  class=\"headline_icon wassermann_block\">\r\n  <div class=\"noborder\">\r\n        <h2 class=\"custom_headline h2\" class=\"custom_headline h2\" id=\"when-does-workpiece-automation-using-clamping-pallets-make-sense\">\r\n              <span class=\"headline\">When does workpiece automation using clamping pallets make sense?<\/span>\r\n                <\/h2>\r\n    <\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\n<p>Anyone who automates pallet handling, for example, always benefits from two positive effects: Productivity receives a considerable boost and the investment pays for itself in a short time. If you then opt for a flexible system that is, for example, suitable for multiple machines and ideal for small quantities, production automatically becomes more efficient. <\/p>\n\n<p>Looking at typical machining centers, robot-based automation solutions are no longer the most efficient solution. For these types, automation solutions based on clamping pallets should be considered. <\/p>\n\r\n\r\n<div id=\"block-65af8e96690a7\"  class=\"headline_icon wassermann_block\">\r\n  <div class=\"noborder\">\r\n        <h2 class=\"custom_headline h2\" class=\"custom_headline h2\" id=\"the-machine-is-not-prepared-for-automation-what-now\">\r\n              <span class=\"headline\">The machine is not prepared for automation &#8211; what now?<\/span>\r\n                <\/h2>\r\n    <\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\n<p>If you look at the machining centers on the market, you often hear from users that it is not possible to automate their machinery because the machines are not prepared for automation. Preparation for automation includes the media feed-through of the hydraulics and pneumatics, e.g. to prepare a zero-point clamping system. <\/p>\n\n<p>However, there are also options for connecting an automation system to machines that do not have these preparations. Together with its partner Andreas Maier GmbH &amp; Co KG (AMF), Wassermann Technologie has developed a clever solution for docking all the required media and queries to the existing machine via its automation solution.
